Most of the week, I’ve been eating my favorite chili for lunch. I’m not sure I’m ever going to get tired of it. When I found that Wal-Mart had begun stocking Skyline Chili, I had to buy seven cans. I probably should have bought more.
Skyline Chili was introduced to me by my grad school roommate, Andy Fischer. I had never tasted the stuff before and he had frozen Skyline Chili and spaghetti dinners that we ate while watching SportsCenter prior to going out and playing pool and drinking.
I loved the stuff.
I can’t remember the last time I had it. It had definitely been a long time ago and I was shocked when I saw cans of it in the store.
Skyline Chili is probably a bit more soupy than traditional thick chili. It doesn’t come with beans, but they certainly could be added. The “normal” way to eat Skyline is to use it like spaghetti sauce and pour it over the pasta. I prefer to eat it in a bowl with a ton of shredded cheddar cheese. The cheese thickens it up a bit and adds a bit more bite to the already spicy taste. Crackers would also help thicken it up and I might have to experiment with different kinds.
If you like spicy chili, I recommend buying a can and trying it out as a quick meal.
