It is early September and I’m tired of this election season. I’m not a huge fan of Secretary Clinton, but only racists and those living in an informational, economical and social bubble are fans of Donald Trump. These last few months are going to be poisonous. In fact, I’d venture to say the poison has already seeped into the collective mindset of the American people.
The mainstreaming of conspiracy theories, racism, xenophobia, and “made-up facts” of the Republican candidate and the GOP needs to be stopped. I’m not sure who is going to do it.
Will it be Daily Show host Trevor Noah who recently posted a rant on Twitter focusing on Trump’s anti-immigration rhetoric?
Will it be Former MSNBC host Keith Olbermann reading off all the shocking things Donald Trump has said on the campaign trail so far?
Will it be Samantha Bee calling out journalists who let Trump and his associates off the hook by not going after the ridiculous fabrications and assertions in real time?
Will it be Hillary Clinton as she recently outlined 20 questions of Trump she feels the American public ought to know the answers to?
It sure as hell won’t be Jimmy Fallon who tripped over himself to make Donald a normal human being instead of shining a spotlight on this orange-stained pile of fecal matter. (By the way, watch Letterman eviscerate Trump. That’s how you do it.)
Maybe the debates will shine that proverbial spotlight on how dangerous Trump really is? I don’t know. What I do know is this election season won’t be over until Tuesday, November 8.
Not soon enough.
