I use Google for a lot of things. To compete with the Zooms of the world, Google decided to change-up their video chatting program and create Google Meet. It’s available for everyone who uses Google. I do not use Google Meet and likely never will. There are a lot of Google products that simply aren’t for me and that’s okay. What’s not okay is to have Google Meet sitting in my Gmail inbox at the bottom of my left side column. It was super annoying to me.
While it was not super obvious to me, I learned that you can hide the buttons.
Here’s how to hide Google Meet in Gmail:
- Open Gmail.
- Click on the cog icon in the top-right corner.
- Click on “Settings” in the drop-down menu.
- Click on the “Chat and Meet” tab.
- Next to the “Meet:” label, select “Hide the Meet section in the main menu.”
- Click “Save changes.”
So much better.
